PCMCIA not work correctly. |
Mon, 01 Mar 2004 |
Running Turbolinux10
Desktop on Dynabook E7/418CME with which
the PCMICA does not work correctly; the
system freezes upon the
start-up. (PCMCIA is currently switched
off.)
Since a PCMCIA
socket (O2Micro-OZ6933) was found under
Windows, I assume
the driver had not been accepted. Need
to install the appropriate driver,
but I am still a newbie; please advise
how to do it in detail as much as
possible.
Note: It worked with Vine Linux 2.6.3
without problems.

I had the same problem; the system freezed
at PCMCIA upon the start-up with
"....using try "pic=biosirq".
Then, I fiddled around with PCMCIA configuration
file by;
-trying "pci=biosirq" as advised;
the message disappeared but the same symptom.
-confining "/etc/sysconfig/pcmcia"
to "irq_list=10,11".
-commenting-out the beginning part of
"/etc/pcmcia/config.opts" and
answering
the query "improve?".
-exactly following the instructions written
in "PCMCIA How To":
http://www.linux.or.jp/JF/JFdocs/PCMCIA-HOWTO-3.html#ss3.1
I, however, have had no luck at all and
the symptom remains the same.
BTW, I have found the following item included
in PCI terms in KDE system
information:
02:04.0 CardBas bridge: O2 Micro, Inc
OZ6933 Cardbus Controller (rev 01)
Is this be of any help?

Some Toshiba machines accept "interrupt"
operation through ACPI only.
How about adding "acpi=on" to
the kernel option by:
writing "acpi=on" into "kernel
(hdX,X)/boot/vmlinuz root=XXXX" line
of
/boot/grub/grub.conf.
Note: "XX" indicates the machine's
fixed value.

By trying this, I have successfully read
the service!
Will try to insert various cards after
this.
Thank you.
