I just tried loading RedHat 8.0 on a 5205-S503.
The installation seemed to go perfectly - no problems.
However, the system will not boot completely in mulit-user mode.
I can boot in single user, and then run the init.d scripts by hand, but there
seems to be a problem with some pcmcia devices. I get the following
message when configuring the pcmcia:

Starting pcmcia: PCI: Enabling device 02:0b.0 (0000 -> 0002)
PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device 02:0b.0.
Please try using pci=biosirq.
Yenta IRQ list 0400, PCI irq0
Socket status: 30000007

The NIC connections seems to work fine, but when I try "startx" the system hangs.

Any suggestions?

First problem solved. I finally found that the "kudzu" program was causing
a problem. By simply removing "kudzu" from the initialization scripts, the
system boots in multiuser mode, and X windows starts okay. Now we will see
what other problems lie ahead.
