I cannot get Firewire working |
Thu, 20 May 2004 |
I'm tring to get the
latest Linux kernel working on my Toshiba
Satellite 5105
but I'm having trouble with Firewire to
work, although the external Firewire
Desk (ADS Technology) DLX-815 runs properly
under WinXP.

I found that the Firewire can work with
the following 2 distributions (kernels):
1. Turbo 10D (kernel 2.6.0_6)
It doesn't work in case of 2.6.0-test5_2.
After comparison of source file of 2.6.0-test5_2
to that of kernel-2.6.0_6,
I noticed that the same modifications (as
the 1394_2604.diff.gz) had been made to
the "ohci1394_pci_probe()" function
of drivers/ieee1394/ohci1394.c.
2. FedoraCore1(kernel 2.6.4+1394_2604.diff.gz)
After applying the patch file 1394_2604.diff.gz
(for kernel 2.6.4) to the source
of kernel 2.6.4, we confirmed it worked
correctly; see the following webpage below:
