External mouse goes wild |
Sat, 03 Jul 2004 |
I
have a Satellite A35-S120
RedHat 9 ran nice, but I had problems with
old gd graphics, so I ungraded
to fedora core 2. Now the external (only
has USB) mouse goes wild.
It goes to the top or right side of screen
and stays there.
Any help would be great.
Or does anyone have "fedora" running
on a laptop?
I've looked at changes to the XF86config
file. But none of the suggestions
of the maillist worked.
Also the XF86config is unchanged from RedHat
9 to "fedora".

My usbmouse works fine with my laptop.
What settings do you have in
your XF86Config?
Try:
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/usbmouse"

I reverted back to RedHat 9.
Mine did not have usbmouse in /dev, it
did have usb in /dev so I
specified it. I made the changes to the
XF86Config file before upgrading
to Fedora Core 2.
The mouse did not work before upgrading.
Once the upgraded was done the mouse works
fine.
Now the cdrom does not, but the ethernet
does.

You do know that Fedora Core 2 has switched
to Xorg?
Your X settings are described in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
instead of the file /etc/X11/XF86Config
henceforth.
