[tlinux-users-j:03343] Unable to set Xwindow on DynabookSS S7. Sat, 05 Jul 2003

I've just purchased DnabookSS S7 and am trying to install Linux into it.
The graphic controller with this machine is Trident XP4 m32LP.
Everything seems to have gone very well, just except Xwindow settings.

The problem is:
Only RH9, among three Linux OSs (Vine2.6r, Mandrake9 and Redhat9) has
displayed the Xwindow, and the display was too dim to joke about, though.

No clue was found even in the Trident webpages:
http://www.tridentmicro.com

Has anyone successfully started the Xwindow on DynabookSS S7 or with
Trident XP4 m32LP?

I did it!
The Xwindow has finally worked in framebuffer on my DynabookSS with RH9!!
Thanks to all of you.

Well, let me summarize the proceeding:

-Install RH in text mode.
-Set vga=791 for the parameter of kernel being installed.
-NOT to select XFree86-X-fbdev for custom installation.
-Change /etc/X11/XF86Config Driver to fbdvev.

By doing this, I mean, if you do not select XFree86-X-fbdev and then follow
the steps above, the Xwindow will be displayed by 1024x768x16 all right!

To tell the truth, I cannot posit it but I just have no other idea....
Good thing I never gave it up, anyway.

By the way, did you know i855 to be included in the next DynabookSS S8?
That's terrific, isn't it?
(The S7, in contrast, still uses TridentXP4.....)

Again, thanks to everyone for everything!
