Satellite P25

I got my P25-S509 running well with SuSe 9.0 and here is what I
found....SuSe 9.0 is just about install and go.
I had to do some tweaking with the 17" wide screen set-up with NVIDA
drivers, I found the NVIDA driver at
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

I found that
http://members.cox.net/cconvey/Installing_Mandrake_Linux_9_1_on_a_Toshiba_P25-S507_Laptop.html
was helpful setting up the video you will need to tweak the XF86Config.

The WiFi works, Ethernet 100%,the is sound great.

The mouse pad works as well as my USB mouse.

My external USB 3.5" drive works perfectly.

I installed Ximian® Desktop 2 from http://www.ximian.com/ I would
recommend it, it works great.

DOWN FALL:
I have can not access the NTFS partition I do not know why, most likely
my fault. (I am no Linux guru)

The built in SD card reader.....nothing no luck at all.
I can plug in an external USB multi card reader and it works.

The battery has a shorter life than with windows XP.

Still have failed to sync my Zaurus with it. most likely my fault. (I am
no Linux guru)

I am also working to get an e-trex GPS to work with with no luck so far.
most likely my fault. (I am no Linux guru)

It in my option the P25-S509 is a GREAT platform to run LINUX, the fine
folks at TOSHIBA should just sell the thing with SuSe running on it. But
that is just my option.

I hope this may be of some help to some one out there, I hope to see if
SuSe 9.1 will do well.
