Computer: Satellite P105-S6024 - All original hardware except 2 gig ram (upgraded)
Linux Version: Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron).

No installation problems/hangups. All system worked fine except no sound.
Appears to be a rather common problem with old(er) Toshiba laptops based on various Linux forum searches.
Tried most/all of the reported fixes I could find - all to no avail.

Intel8x0 sound card

Finally updated BIOS from original (version 2.20) to latest available (version 4.30), and re-installed Ubuntu 8.04.
Sound worked immediately on completion of installation. So far all other systems (video/display, CD-DVD, memory, HD, wireless, networking, printer, etc.) look good.
