| Fedora Core
3 on Satellite A70-S256
Hi, I just wanted to share my experience with the
Linux community in regards
to this Toshiba Laptop. I am running the Fedora Core
Distribution Version 3.
So far, everything is working good except the Wireless
card. The set up
phase detected my Video, Sound Card and LAN adapter
along with other things
that I don't really know about.
Once you logon to the system you can use the tools
provided with Gnome, and
play with your screen resolution to modify it. The
default is 800x600. When
I increased the resolution though, it disabled my
sound card for some
reason. I had to revert back to 800x600 and everything
went back to normal.
I was impressed with the sound system. It sounds lauder
and clearer then in
Windows.
When installing the OS, make sure to hit F3 at the
set up screen, and read
the instruction. There is a command that reads something
like "linux nofb" I
am not too sure if that is correct spelling. This
allowed me to bypass the
probing face of the installation and continue installing
the OS
I am new to the Linux world. However, I am running
Linux somewhat
successfully.
The touch pad does not work. You must use a USB mouse.
At this time the one
thing I need to resolve is the Atheros Wifi built-in
adapater.
