Slackware 10.0 & Ubuntu Warty
4.10
on Satellite A65-S1067
Hi, I just wanted to explain the difficulties I had
with this laptop.
I've run two distros and two kernels over the past
two weeks. Specs are available at this site:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp?BV_SessionID=
@@@@1964566151.1108532787@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccfadddlemdhegcgfkceghdgngdgnj.0
I'm running Slackware 10.0 and Ubuntu Warty 4.10
on this and the problems are as follows.
ACPI/APM
The BIOS says it's a ACPI supported, but I don't whether
it is an authentic toshiba bios
or a pheonix BIOS. Because of this, I've had trouble
using the toshiba-utils package
and also if I use ACPI, it is very buggy and causes
random shutdowns because the
motherboard would overheat and the fan would not turn
on.
Video
I haven't gotten 3D acceleration to work on this ATI
IGP 7000 video card. I've tried
Slackware's X.org as well as Ubuntu's deprecated Xfree86
and both can give me a
maximum of 300 FPS in glxgears and tuxracer is sluggish.
PCMCIA
When I run /sbin/lspci with my Linksys WPC54GS w/
Speedbooster in the PCMCIA/Cardbus
slot, I get nothing except for Texas Instruments Cardbus
Controller. The card itself gets power,
but hardware is not present when I use ndiswrapper
for this card. I do not know whether to
include somthing in the pcmcia scripts to probe for
the right slot.
Other than that, everything else works (sound (not
the speaker, but headphones using
alsaconf), touchpad, external mouse etc.)
