Hi,
I recently put linux on an A135-S2246.

It came with Vista Basic, which I promptly removed. :-)

It has the 1.7Ghz Celeron M , ATI X200M video, 80 gig sata harddrive, and intel audio.

These are my findings:
1. OpenSuSE 10.3-alpha will do the best job of setting things up.
-- it will setup 1280x800, and the Synaptics Touchpad
-- it will setup battery acpi
-- sound is automatic

2. To get the wifi going, you need to patch your kernel with the patch from http://madwifi.org/
It goes in flawlessly, and your ath0 will be found on boot.

3. I prefer Slackware myself, and I used the Xorg.conf from suse, and needed to use the latest version of Slackware
current( which has Xorg 7.2 and the Radeon driver)
I also needed to get the Synaptics Xorg module from http://web.telia.com/~u89404340/touchpad/
The xorg.conf for 1280x800 is listed at the end of this email.

4. The ACPI is a mixed bag. The 2.6 kernels will find the battery and ac connection, lid lock, etc. The functions keys do not work, but if you get the omnibook patch from http://sourceforge.net/projects/omke/
you can set the lcd brightness and turn on/off the touchpad by echo'ing values to /proc. For example
echo 3 > /proc/omnibook/lcd
will set the brightness to 3 (range 0-7)

5. The one thing I could not get to work right, is adding a usb mouse and having it work. The usb-mouse-keys would send events, but the pointer stayed frozen. So it seems for now you are stuck with the touchpad (which works well)
Adding a usb keyboard works well however.

So all in all, it's a pretty good ( and quiet unit).

I connect via ethernet and a DSL modem, and that all works fine.
I currently have no way to test the wifi, but ath0 is listed in ifconfig.
