Satellite 2435-S255 Working GREAT with Mdk 9.1

Mdk 9.1 will not install well, you have to use the "alt1" kernel image on the Install CD1.

Doesn't give a lot of options when you do that.

I downloaded a rescue cd image from somewhere containing a RH 8, Kernel
2.4.19, and it booted on CD fine. I used lilo command-line "root=/dev/hda1".

Worked like a charm.

Then, cd /usr/src/linux, make xconfig <- yes my x was working right then.

The touchpad was working right then too. I didn't not have to do anything.

I have a config for the kernel attached. This is the /usr/src/linux/.config
that is attached. For kernel 2.4.21-0.13mdk source.

When I build this kernel and install it with LILO, I can reboot the
laptop under its own power, so to speak, off of /dev/hda1.

All or almost all devices are enabled.

I do not know what the problem is, the incompatability with the
kernels Mandrake is shipping with 9.1.

I have gotten a very fine Kernel with the config I am attaching.

This is not perfect yet, but very good. Sound dsp works, artsd does not.

NVidia drivers install PERFECTLY.

Had to go to /etc/security/console.perms
REMOVE ALL LINES WITH <dri> in them.

Also I have attached my "dmesg" output, and my "lscpidrake" output.
