WinXP+Vine Linux 2.6r1 on dynabook SS S8

==Original report was written in Japanese==

First, install XP (disc-to-disc recovery or released WindowsXP, Pro or Home, whichever you want).
In doing so, secure the partition space for Linux. It will be very useful to create FAT32 space.
Please be carefull not to erase cached partition for XP recovery in /dev/hda3.

For your information, my Linux space is 10GB, and FAT space is 1GB.

It is likely that later model dynabook SS S8/210LNKW has a problem that partition cannot be created
when you install XP from recovery space, but patch is opened on the following site (Japanese only):
http://dynabook.com/assistpc/download/modify/hdd/index_j.htm?qry=.%2F%3Ffunc%3Dpi%26category

Then, you can install Linux in free space. Since Vine2.6 anaconda cannot read S8 onboard graphics card
and monitor driver, select text mode installation.
Skip X configuration when installing.

Boot loader (LILO) should be put to the first sector of Linux boot partition, not to MBR. Options like
LBA32 are OK to be off. Also you don't need to specify kernel parameter. /boot partition is on the back
of XP or NTFS space.

MBR can call up recovery space if it is for WindowsXP(Home or Pro).

When you reboot after installation, WindowsXP will start up with no question asked. Use bootpart tool
to make a file of Linux boot sector. And you can select the boot option every time after pressing
the power button.

Runlevel is 3, since X is not configured in installation process. It should be logined in text mode.

Go to the Intel website, and get the graphic driver for Linux.
http://support.intel.com/support/index.htm?iid=Corporate+Header_Support& (English)

Vine supports NTFS reading at a kernel level. Mount the NTFS area in /etc/fstab and put the Intel
graphic driver on the mounted partition. Boot Linux and get from the mounted NTFS area.

After installing the graphic driver, start up Xconfigurator. Also specify the Intel i830 driver.
When you reboot, default Window Manager will be launched with xinit or startx.

Install the driver back after upgrading the kernel.

For your information, I rewrote Linux boot loader to GRUB. If you do this firstly, it would be very useful that
the kernel image can be automatically read each time when you upgrade your kernel.
